Basic Needs Resources

  • SNAP (Food Stamps)

    • The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps.

  • Cash help during an emergency (Access NYC)

    • You may be able to get cash help if you cannot pay your bills because you lost your job, are getting less pay from your job, or had another emergency like an unexpected medical situation. 

  • WIC Program

    • WIC helps you buy healthy food for you and your family. WIC stands for Women, Infants, and Children. It's a free nutrition program for:

      • People who are pregnant

      • People who are up to 6 months postpartum or 12 months, if breastfeeding

      • Children under the age 5, supported by parents and caregivers (including foster parents and grandparents)

  • Single Stop

    • Single Stop sites connect visitors to food stamps, local food pantries, housing programs, and jobs.

  • VITA

  • Thrive NYC

    • Mental health awareness, training and connections.

  • Housing NYC

    • Interactive site designed to assist in finding safe and affordable housing.

  • Tenant Resources – NYC

    • Tenant resources listed in New York City’s 311 directory.

  • Webster Apartments

    • Webster provides all-inclusive dorm-style living accommodations for eligible working women in NYC without a long-term lease agreement. Month-to-month housing offers guests the flexibility of staying for a minimum of 4 weeks and up to 5 years with only 8 weeks’ notice required prior to departure.

  • Health Care / Insurance / Medicaid

    • Medicaid offers free health insurance coverage to children and adults under the age of 65 who meet income and other eligibility requirements.

  • Fair Fares (Low Cost Metro Cards for Low-Income New Yorkers)

    • Using the Fair Fares NYC MetroCard, eligible New York City residents receive a 50% discount on subway and eligible bus fares. Pay-per-Ride, weekly unlimited, and monthly unlimited options are all available.
